I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.

A quick pickleball tip about how to cover a lob using the switch. The player getting lobbed switches with his/her partner and the player not getting lobbed goes to get the lob. It allow the player handling the lob to do so without having to turn around – the non-lobbed player has a better angle to hit the ball. This is an important pickleball movement fundamental for you and your partner to master.

ADVANCED Pickleball Serve - The Offensive Cut Serve | In2Pickle

Timestamps: ADVANCED Pickleball Serve
00:00 - Intro of this video - ADVANCED Pickleball Serve
00:25 - Fundamental - Cut Serve
00:50 - Incremental Growth
01:05 - Swing from Shoulder
01:30 - Practical Breakdown
02:00 - Back Leg Load - Cut Serve

DISCLAIMER: This pickleball serve is when you are ready to add a wrinkle to your serve game. You should not add this serve to your game until you have mastered a basic consistent serve.

To see more about other serves, check out this video on our friend CJ Johnson's channel @Better Pickleball:

https://youtu.be/jsoGCcoDzMk

Subscribe to @BetterPickleball

That said, if you add this serve to your pickleball game, you will inspire fear in your opponents every time you step up to the line to serve.

"What is [insert your name here] going to do now? Serve it hard? Lob serve it? Or maybe it's a cut serve coming my way?"

Unpredictability is a pickleball player that is an asset. Keeping your opponents guessing about your next move or shot. Just make sure you are not sacrificing consistency for it.

Think of it this way: pickleball consistency first, cools shots, and unpredictability second.

The way you hit this pickleball serve is to swing across the ball as you serve. You are "cutting" the ball with your paddle.

You are looking for the ball to spin (curve) left to right if you are right-handed and right to left if you are left-handed. You will be able to see the ball curve through the air.

Otherwise, you want to keep your serve preparation and motion the same as your regular serve. Keep the swing from the shoulder, and do not overpronate the elbow or wrist in the shot.

This serve is particularly effective if a player has zoned into your regular serve. Try it against different players: some will have more difficulty with a low sideways moving ball than with a high topspin serve.

Good luck out there.

A question that vexes players but is seldom answered: what stroke to use – the lateral “tennis” stroke or the pendulum “bowling” stroke? In this video we cover the advantages of the pendulum stroke for players who do not come from a tennis/racquetball/similar background. For how to actually hit the pendulum stroke, check out the video below.

Adding extra spin to the pickleball is not right for every pickleball player. Even if it is, there is a cost to adding spins to your pickleball game: (1) there are likely other shots and strategies that will be more beneficial to your game and results that you will not be working on, and (2) your consistency will suffer (you will make more errors on the pickleball court).

Most pickleball players at some point want to add spins into their games. The belief is that adding spins is what is missing to help a player “break out.”

This belief is often misplaced and, in fact, adding spins often retards a player’s improvement. Or worse yet, results in deterioration of the player’s game.

In this pickleball video series, we look at spins. The very first topic (covered in Video 1) is to examine whether pickleball spins are really “all that.” What is the actual impact of spin on your pickleball shots? And does this impact merit the time and attention that spins will require to learn in addition to the increase in errors from the added variability of spins in your shots. Once you watch the video you will be better informed as to whether spins are worth adding to your pickleball game.

The second video covers some common mistakes in how spins are hit by pickleball players. In a nutshell, you cannot use the same techniques used to spin a tennis ball to spin a pickleball. A pickleball paddle is vastly different from a tennis racket, particularly the lack of any strings. And a pickleball is different than a tennis ball, importantly the lack of any felt. In this video, we demonstrate some of the common errors made by pickleball players trying to impart spin onto their shots.

The third video shows the proper technique for applying spin to a pickleball. Rather than brushing the ball tennis style, we show you a technique that respects the nature of a pickleball paddle as well as a pickleball. The technique also provides greater consistency by focusing on getting the ball where you want it to go (including over the net).

It is a fine thing to be able to spin the ball. It is important, however, to know the tradeoffs you are making whenever you try to impart extra spin onto the ball. Even the pros (who can spin the ball as well as anyone) know when to avoid adding spin to the ball – when to hit a more reliable shot: one without spin.

Become an informed pickleball player and you will be able to make better decisions about your pickleball game. We encourage you to watch this entire video to know how to spin the pickleball the right way to enrich your pickleball game strength. This pickleball training video also helps to increase your technique of pickleball spin serve, pickleball spin slow motion, and more. You can also utilize how to backspin, or slice, quite a bit. How to grip the pickleball paddles, pickleball spin return. If you're a beginner pickleball game player then you should consider watching our more videos to know all about the pickleball games, how to play pickleball, and all the beginners to advance level pickleball techniques.

The soft game is an integral part of a well-rounded pickleball player's arsenal. The soft game depends on good movement so that you can achieve a solid foundation. From there you want to make sure that your hitting shoulder is engaged, you are hitting in front and that you stay focused on the contact zone.

If you want to be the best, learn from the best.

Players often tend to mingle together the different aspects of the pickleball shot. The mingling can look like a mix of the first move with the shot, a mix of the shot and the move, or even a mix of all three.

You want to make sure you observe the three different parts of each shot - the move into the shot, the stroke itself, and the move out of the shot. In this video we show you the different parts of each stroke to make sure you understand the subtle, yet critical, importance of treating each part independent of the other.

This is part of dancing the dance that is pickleball.

Pickleball players often confuse the movement required after a return with the movement required after a serve. "GET UP TO THE LINE!" is what they hear over and over. Getting up to the line is, however, vastly different if you are doing after a return than after a serve.
