This channel is dedicated to all the gold seeking Pickleballers out there who dink responsibly and stay out of the kitchen. We have all levels come through the channel, but we concentrate on the 4.0s, 4.5s and up to 5.5s.
I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel: 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.

Hello everyone! This is Keith Valentine. I'm the Pickleball Pirate. Recently in the Orange County Open Tyson McGuffin lost badly to Zane Navratil because of his serve. Zane was using the serve we're going to look at. The rules says the serve must be hit with an underhand stroke, so that contact with the ball is made below the waist defined as the navel. The arm must be moving in the upward arc, and the highest point of the paddle head should be below the wrist when it strikes the ball. So the highest point of the paddle cannot be above any part of the line form where the wrist joint bends. Tyson McGuffin complained loudly that Zane's serves were illegal. So let's take a look! Okay, here we go! Okay that one was below the navel, below the navel. Oh that one's questionable. Well, that one seemed a little bit questionable a little bit of side spin there. No that one was clean.
That was cleaned over him you know. The the paddles is below his wrist too. So that's not illegal. Either below his wrist
Below his wrist there's a little side spinner there. A little bit too much
Still below the navel like he's, yeah, i don't know, i think all of these look legal to me. That one may be questionable
But yeah, definitely below the wrist on every swing like that's pretty incredible.
A little bit upstroke like, I like how he's kind of falling backwards. Watch this one. It's kind of falling backwards.
Well, there you have it folks. Well I don't think I saw anything illegal about that serve. I think Tyson McGuffin just needs to grow up here and learn how to return one of Zane's easy serves. I'm just kidding: that looks like impossible to return some of these. I would encourage you to go watch the game or any Zane's serves now. A point is that they can spin the ball. He is definitely changing the server, he's changing the game up, and Ben Johns is doing the same exact thing. So this is the new pickleball world. Tell me what you guys think good bad and different. Isn't going to change the game too much anyway. Hope you guys enjoy and see you next time on the channel!
