Below is a recap of the key points from this video. Enjoy

Simplifying the pickleball scoring system for both singles and doubles which can be confusing for many new players.

General:
• Games are played to 11 points, win by 2
• Can only score when you are serving
• Serve cross-court
• Announce your score every time you serve

Singles Scoring
• Server’s score determines which side to serve from.
• Even number score serve from right side
• Odd number score serve from left side
• When serving, say your score first, then opponent’s score
• If you win the point, continue serving from the appropriate side (Your score Odd=Left, Even=Right).
• Continue serving until you don’t win the point. Then opponent will serve.
• At start of a game the score is 0-0
Doubles Scoring
• Both players on each side serve until they commit a fault except at the start of a new game.
• At start of a new game, only one player on the serving team will serve until they fault
• When serving, say your score first, then opponents score, then your server number (1 or 2)
• At start of a new game the score would be 0-0-2
• If a point is scored, the server switches with his teammate and serves to the other side. You will only switch positions with teammate when your team scores a point on serve
• Continue until you commit a fault. Then the second player on the team will serve. (except at the start of a game as we mentioned already)
• Second server continues until a side-out occurs. Then other team serves
• The first serve after a side out is always from the right regardless of who is there.

Tip – your server number may change during the game depending on your position when you side out. Sometimes your server 1, sometimes you are server 2

Final Tip – Doubles Scoring Sequence
When the serving team’s score is even the player who was the first server in the game for that team will be on the right-side court when serving; when odd that player will be in the left-side court when serving
