Make sure you are balanced when you serve. And learn how to transfer weight into the shot.

It is important to generate sufficient power to get your serve deep. While we are not concerned with serve speed for Project 4.0, we are concerned with serve depth. You will need to be able to transfer enough energy into the ball in order to send that ball deep.

This is part of our stroke mechanics video series for Project 4.0.

Pickleball Spin - How it works | In2Pickle

Pickleball spin comes from the forward momentum of the paddle. Combing the ball is less effective in pickleball than in tennis or table tennis (ping pong). The pickleball is hard with no felt, and the pickleball paddle has no strings or gummy rubber.

Pickleball spin is dependent on paddle angle and paddle swing.

Understanding spins https://youtu.be/i1NjTgdcZ-Y.

How spins bounce on the court: https://youtu.be/j_bHlScZzL8

Good luck out there.

How to Understand Pickleball Ball Spins so that You can take Action Before the Bounce of the Ball?

As you advance in the sport, you need to understand how to read ball spins so that you can move properly to the ball without having to wait for the ball to bounce. Often if you wait for the ball to bounce it is too late to get ready in the proper position.

This video will show you: 1- how to recognize the type of spin that a shot will impact on the ball and 2- what the different spin (under or top) will do to the ball once it bounces.

You can use this information to make sure you are in a better position from where to hit the ball.

Pickleball Tips Doubles: Are you moving to poach and protect your partner? | In2Pickle

Pickleball Doubles is a team sport. For maximum effectiveness, players must play as a unit. Sometimes that means covering your partner. Sometimes that means your partner covering for you.

Pickleball Tips Doubles video will help you to understand the three most common limitations in movement by doubles players occasioned by the center line on the court:
Not poaching
Not protecting their partner
Not moving optimally to cover lobs.

You know all the strategies and concepts. That is awesome. But are you able to recognize when the rules was applied? Broken? Should be excepted?

In2Pickle is known for play-by-play and point breakdowns. It is what we do. And now we want to help you develop the same skills: critical analysis skills needed to really improve your game.

In this series we will present a point for you to analyze. After you have analyzed it, you can compare your notes to ours and see how you did (or how we did).

You can go straight to our breakdown. There will be some material in there that you might find useful. But it will not, and cannot, be as useful as if you had done your own analysis first. Think of it as drilling before you play.

Our breakdown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZGz75T3v3I

Scooping your pickleball dinks leads to inconsistency and resulting errors. In this video, you'll learn how to fix this common technique error. Please Subscribe 🙏https://www.youtube.com/c/WeArePickleball

If you want consistent pickleball shots, including your dinks, consider the trajectory of your paddle as it makes contact with the ball. A forward "scooping" paddle motion is more uncertain - less predictable - than a straight-through-the-ball paddle motion. Anytime you add variability into your pickleball game you increase the chance for more errors. If you want more consistency, then reduce your variability and you will be a better pickleball player.

In the pickleball game, there are a lot of techniques that need to be executed during the match. Before the match, you don't know what will be happening so you should prepare as a player for every type of shot, technique, strategy, and rule. In today's video, I'm giving you a particular lesson about pickleball dink shot details.

A dink shot is a slower and softer shot that’s hit near the no-volley line. The shot is intended to drop down once it crosses over the net and land in your opponent’s no-volley zone (kitchen). The dink shot makes it so that your opponent has to let the ball bounce one time before hitting it back, which usually causes them to hit the ball in an upward direction.

So you need to improve your pickleball dink shot perfectly. Actually, the dink shot is about patience. If you watch this video attentively then you will learn the best technique for dink shots.
Let's explore this video and learn how to improve the pickleball dink shot.

Give it a try and let us know what you think.

To play proper pickleball, you have to be on a solid foundation. Playing without a solid foundation is like building a house on sand - it will eventually fail.

This is Video 1 of our analysis of our friend Eddie Adkins' game as we working to help Eddie become a benchmark 4.0 player. In this video we break down Eddie's foundation so that he can build a good base for his 4.0 quest.

The 2022 revisions to the USA Pickleball Rules (technically the IFP Official Rulebook) have been announced. The “provisional” qualifier was dropped (is there a pun there) from the Drop Serve rules.

What this means is that the Drop Serve is here to stay.

Before the new rules were adopted, it would have been fair to view the Drop Serve as something that a player might use if they were having trouble with the serve (the Service Yips as they are called). But a player may have been hesitant to spend too much time on a serve that might be removed from the rules.

No reason to fear any longer. The 2022 Rules change make it clear that the Drop Serve is now a permanent part of the game.

So should you use the Drop Serve or add it to your game? For the most part, the answer is going to be definitely.

• If you are new to pickleball and do not have a background in racket sports, you will proceed directly to the Drop Serve. There is no reason to learn the traditional in-air volley serve. Keep on reading for why.
• If you are having trouble with your volley serve, kick it to the curb and make the Drop Serve your full-time serve.
• If you sometimes falter on the volley serve, then consider either replacing it completely with the Drop Serve or, at a minimum, spend some time on the Drop Serve so that you have it as an insurance policy out there. You get into a jam with your serve? No problem. Take the Drop Serve out of your bag and use it.

Why the Drop Serve over the in-air volley serve? Three main reasons:

1. It is consistent with the rest of the groundstrokes you will hit in the game. The volley serve is an outlier. You hit it like a groundstroke BUT the ball never bounces on the court. The Drop Serve does not suffer from this difference and is the same as a return of serve, except that you control the drop of the ball.
2. The Drop Serve allows you better timing in hitting the ball and decreases the chance that you will rush the serve – a common cause of service errors.
3. The Drop Serve allows you to hit deeper serves, particularly useful when you are hitting into a heavy wind. We show you how to do this in our 2022 Drop Serve Video – linked below.

The Drop Serve also reduces the chances that you will have serve controversy at your courts. Say you are playing and someone suggests that your serve is illegal (or might be). Just pull out the ole Drop Serve. There is only one rule you must comply with on the Drop Serve: the ball has to be dropped. This means that the ball cannot be propelled downwards (or tossed up and then allowed to bounce). It must be dropped out of your hand with no downwards force applied to it.

Once you drop the ball, the 3-rules of the Serve (ball hit under waist, upward arc on swing, and paddle under wrist) no longer apply. Dropping the ball is the only requisite.

Speaking of which, the ball can be dropped (and bounce) anywhere on the court. Your feet must remain outside the baseline and between the center and sideline when you hit the serve. The ball, however, can bounce anywhere on the court.

The permanence of the Drop Serve makes it a great addition to your game. It is what all the cool kids are doing.
