Popping the pickleball makes it harder to control your shots. This applies to drinks, serves, returns of serve, you name it. Rather than popping the ball, toss or throw it with your pickleball paddle. Your control will improve, your shots will be better and you will reduce your pickleball errors.

Since you have less courtroom to deal with and must hit the pickleball higher to get it over the net when dinking down the line, there are typically more pop-ups. Consider hitting most dinks crosscourt or into the middle of the court to assist you to prevent pop-ups.

Your ability to control your shots is hampered by popping the pickleball. This rule is applicable to all types of serves and returns of serves. Rather than popping the ball, toss or throw it with your pickleball paddle. Your pickleball errors will decrease, your control will increase, and your shots will be better.

One of the most important shots in Pickleball is the 3rd drop shot, but more and more we started seeing advanced players choosing to drive the ball and force the other team to make a mistake, instead of doing the 3rd drop shot.
On this video, I show how I do my practice to "Block a Drive Shot".
Here, I'm using the Pickle (Pickleball Machine by Lobster), but you can do the same practice together with a friend.
I talk about the machine settings, grip pressure, positioning, and I also show a real practice with my good shots and bad ones too.
