The paddle tap is an awesome part of pickleball sportsmanship. Jim and Yvonne Hackenberg take it up a notch with their Rule: they always share a moment of physical contact (a hand tap, arm tap, something) between each point. Whether they hit a winner or make a mistake in play, they touch.

It is a great way to defuse the tension that is natural in any competitive sport, made more so when you are playing with your significant other.

Pickleball - Do you know what Respect the "X" means in Pickleball? | Pickleball Strategy

We are always looking to gain a strategic edge in pickleball. Understanding the “X” can help you determine which player on the serving team should handle the third shot after the ball has been returned. The “X” is not a one-size-fits-all concept, but rather a concept to be understood and applied as part of a well-rounded approach to the game.

There are several "forehand in the middle" shots that break the "X", including the old forehand/backhand one at 4:09.
The mechanical breakdowns and results are pretty evident. And these are 5.0+ players in the match.

I started this channel quite by accident, I was recording my games to do film study and get better. I did not have time or money for lessons from pro pickleball coach, so I started watching all my screwups. People that I was playing with started to ask if they could watch too and I said sure. That helped all of us a lot to improve our game, strategy, mental toughness, and techniques. Now we have new pickleball videos published several times a week. We occasionally have pro pickleball players on the channel. Mostly its non pro pickleball players on their quest to 5.0 pickleball. We have all levels come through the channel: 4.0 pickleball, 4.5 pickleball and up to 5.5 pickleball with the pros.
