Pickleball is now the fastest growing sport in America. It is a sport that people of all ages can play, and it is addicting! Once you get started, you will want to play again and again.

While pickleball is a sport similar to tennis in that you hit the ball over the net, there are a few rules that make it unique, besides the fact that it is played with a paddle and wiffle ball.

First, is the double bounce rule. Both the serving and returning team need to let the ball bounce on their side once before they can volley out of the air.

Next is the non-volley zone. The non-volley zone (also referred to as the kitchen) is a zone that extends 7 feet from the net. Players are not allowed to volley the ball while in the non-volley zone.

The court is a bit smaller than tennis, so players can keep up without being in top-notch shape. This is a big reason it has become popular among those over 50.

One of the reasons that Pickleball is growing so rapidly, and entire communities are being built around the sport is because of the social aspect. Communities all over the country are playing pickleball every morning. It is a great way to compete, stay in shape, and make new friends.

While the majority of pickleball players play for fun and exercise, everyone wants to get better. But few have taken the time to drill and work to improve their skills. It is important to have fun, but work on the different pickleball shots.

There are several shots that you need to master to become a good pickleball player: the serve, groundstroke, backhand, dink and volley. Dinking is especially important if you want to be competitive in doubles.

Pickleball is also a very strategic game. You may have good control of the ball, but if you are not hitting the right shots, you are at a disadvantage. Thinking through proper positioning is key to excelling in this sport.
